Gynaecological diseases and gynaecological cancers

One of the biggest fears of women is gynecological diseases and gynecological cancers. Cervical cancer is the fourth most common malignancy in women worldwide, endometrioma is 6th and ovarian cancer is 8th. Breast cancer, endometrioma and ovarian cancer are seen in over 1 million women worldwide each year. The endoscopic surgery used in the gynecologic oncology clinic at Liv Hospital provides many advantages such as smaller incisions and therefore faster recovery.

Gynecological cancer treatment with minimally invasive methods.

"Endoscopic surgery" or so-called "Minimally Invasive Surgery" is a surgical method performed using a camera and devices to diagnose and treat disease, inserted through natural openings or small incisions. It involves surgical processes that affect the body less than open surgery because of the smaller incisions. In the gynecological oncology clinic of Liv Hospital, high-tech HD cameras are used in this method. With endoscopic methods, the incisions are much fewer and smaller, so pain is minimized and the patient improves faster.

The Gynecologic Oncology Department of Liv Hospital uses endoscopic surgery to diagnose and treat many diseases:

  • For the removal of myoma in the uterus.
  • For the treatment of benign cysts developing in the ovaries.
  • In the therapy of endometrioma cysts called chocolate cyst.
  • For the diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancy and tubal diseases (such as endometriosis or adhesions)
  • To remove the uterus when it needs to be removed (hysterectomy)
  • For research into the causes of infertility
  • For surgical improvement of conditions such as uterine prolapse
  • For the treatment of malignancies in women.
  • For near malignant cervical disease or endometrioma that requires surgery.
  • For cysts and growths in the tubes and ovaries
  • For early stage ovarian cancer
