Dr. Burju Goecker will be available for free consultations to Bulgarian patients in Sofia on April 26.

Prof. Dr. Burju Göker, neurosurgeon at the high-tech Liv Hospital in Istanbul, will visit Bulgaria in April. She is a specialist in pediatric neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Göker will be available for free consultations to Bulgarian patients in Sofia on April 26. She is coming to Bulgaria at the invitation of the Health Information Center "Medical Karaj", as part of their initiative to provide Bulgarian patients with access to the latest advances in medicine by partnering with some of the best medical institutions and specialists from around the world.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burju Goecker has extensive experience both in his home country and in renowned clinics in Europe.

She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University in 2003 and completed her specialization in neurosurgery at the same university in 2010. During this time, she also managed to complete a 4-year training program of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS). She then worked in hospitals in her home country and Germany. Dr. Burju Göcker is part of the team of prof. Sebastian Rutten, where he gained knowledge and experience in the field of minimally invasive spinal surgery. In the meantime, he won awards from the Istanbul Medical Chamber and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery (ISMISS) in 2011. Since 2015, he has been part of the Liv Hospital team.

After winning a scholarship to study abroad from the Turkish Society of Neurosurgery, Dr. Burju Göker completed a training course in pediatric neurosurgery at the Catholic University Medical School in Rome in 2015. The clinic where she worked nominated her for the fellowship of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN), which she won. Currently, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bourdieu Goecker is working on her dissertation at the same university.

Dr. Burju Goecker works with pediatric patients who suffer from:

  • congenital anomalies of the nervous system
  • hydrocephalus
  • brain and spinal cord tumours
  • skull defects
  • epilepsies
  • motor defects of childhood
  • cranial and spinal injuries
  • spinal curvatures, etc.
