Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos López Gutiérrez

Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos Lopez Gutierrez graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Salamanca in 1985. He is a specialist in pediatric surgery and pediatric reconstructive surgery.

In addition to being head of department at the University Hospital Quirónsalud Madrid, he is also head of the Department of Congenital Vascular Defects at La Paz Hospital (Madrid).

He specializes in the treatment of tumors and congenital vascular malformations, reconstruction of upper extremity malformations, giant birthmarks, neurofibromatosis, bullous epidermolysis bullosa, major burns, and pediatric trauma medicine.

He is also a distinguished professor at the UAM Faculty of Medicine and the supervisor of several doctoral theses. In addition, he is the founder and president of the Spanish Society of Vascular Anomalies.

• Head of Pediatric Plastic Surgery and Director of the Center for Congenital Vascular Anomalies at La Paz Hospital since 1995.

• Identification and description of López-Gutiérrez syndrome (OMIM 613089).
• Director of the Gorham's Disease Association Medical Advisory Committee and member of the same committee in the Neurofibromatosis, Giant Congenital Nevus and Bullous Epidermolysis Bullosa Association.
