Dear friends of ZIC "Medical Karaj", today we want to introduce you to Vanko!
Yesterday Vanko received his fourth stem cell infusion at Liv Hospital Istanbul. He was treated by Prof. Dr. Erdal Karayoz and his team. We show you a video of Vanko from the hospital. While waiting for the procedure, watching TV, Vanko remembers the horse Arnie he used to ride before the accident. And you will know the name of Pippi, the one we all love, if you watch the video.
Everyone in the team of ZIC "Medical Karaj" is excited about Vanko's treatment and his achievements. We believe he will succeed despite the difficulties he faces! We are amazed by the incredible fight of his father - Dobromir. All of his strength and energy is focused on one goal, and that is for Vanko to recover!
Vanko and his father came to us after a long treatment in Germany. Their wish was to find new methods of treatment to achieve good results for Vanko. And today we can say that we are moving more and more confidently towards this goal. Vanko is now communicating more fully with his father, family and friends. Every day he surprises them with something new and pleases them with his progress.

On June 17, 2019, 14-year-old Ivan Dobromirov Todorov suffered a serious accident. After the car accident, in which he lost his mother and grandmother, Ivan remains in an awake coma. Since the day of the accident, Vanko has been admitted to the neurosurgery ward at Varna District Hospital, where medical teams have been providing intensive care to stabilise his condition.
On 09.12.2019. Vanko was admitted to Schön Klinik, Vogtareuth - Germany.
He then weighs less than 30kg and is unable to start the originally planned procedures. A gastrostomy was inserted, thanks to which he reached an appropriate weight. The procedures that are applied are:
- neurorehabilitation;
- physiotherapy;
- speech therapy;
- Ergotherapy;
- EEG examinations in the awake and asleep state.
In the period 10.03.2020-07.07.2020 operations were performed on the kidneys, tendons and muscles of the arms and legs, pelvic and throat surgery.
After a 9 month stay, constant care, therapies, rehabilitation, several surgeries and manipulations in Schön Clinic, on 08.09.2020, Vanko returns to Bulgaria.
Rehabilitators work with him at home all the time, the family provides round-the-clock care and efforts, but this alone is not enough....
On 28.06.2021. Vanko arrives in Turkey with the assistance of ZIC "Medical Karadži". On 01.07.2021, the first of six stem cell infusion procedures was performed at LIV Hospital - Istanbul. On 31.07.2021 the second infusion was performed and on 29.09 the third infusion. Yesterday Vanko received the fourth infusion. He still has two more procedures.
And here comes our request to you! After the last infusion, the funds left in Vanko's donation account amount to about 12 000 BGN. It will not be enough for the remaining two infusions. We ask everyone who is able and willing to join the fundraising campaign to help Vanko!
