Professor Dr Semra Kahraman is a professor of obstetrics and gynaecology. After graduating from medical school at Hacettepe University in Turkey, she obtained her specialty at Ankara University. She pioneered the ICSI method, embryo freezing and PGD diagnostics /preimplantation genetic diagnosis/ as well as HLA typing and aneuploidy testing in Turkey. She and her team are the first in Turkey to isolate and create embryonic stem cells.
The centre is the largest unit in Turkey, with more than 4,000 in vitro cycles performed annually. The center is also a national IVF training center and is the only center in Turkey certified to ISO15189.
Professor Kahraman is a past president of the International Society for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis. She currently serves as Vice President of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, specializing in diagnostics. Professor Kahraman has published numerous journal articles. Her main areas of research interest are preimplantation genetic diagnosis and controlled ovarian stimulation.

Semra Kahraman, a world-renowned physician and President of the International Association for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGDIS). Professor Dr. Semra Kahraman states that this figure is the highest number of babies obtained with assisted reproductive techniques in an ART center in Turkey.
