At Medical Carragee, we strive to provide each of our patients with the medical service they need to seek treatment abroad. For some it is traditional diagnostics and high quality treatment, for others it is innovative or experimental therapies that are not used in Bulgaria but give hope for a normal life.
Cellthera Clinic in the Czech Republic is one of the latter. For more than 18 years, it has been applying modern cell therapies or so-called stem cell treatments, and for 10 years it has been offering immunotherapy against cancer in the form of a vaccine made from the patient's own dendritic cells. All therapies have been developed by a team of scientists who actively collaborate with their colleagues from around the world.
We at Medical Carragee are available for detailed information about the clinic and treatment options. Before contacting us, you can familiarize yourself with the general information about the medical facility:
Cellthera Clinic: scientific and research activities at the highest level
Cellthera employs academics with many years of experience in their field of work. All of them are united by the view of the complex nature of human health and try to find the optimal solution for each specific case in accordance with the principles of personalized medicine. At Cellthera, the aim is to harness the potential of the human body and its own cells to tackle disease.
The medical staff in the clinic is engaged in scientific and research activities in the field of regenerative medicine, oncology, cardiology, angiology, neurology, immunology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, etc. The main subject of their research is stem cells, regenerative cells, dendritic cells, blood plasma and platelets.
Your own cells heal your body!
The Cellthera Clinic has developed its own original procedure for processing stem cells from adipose and connective tissue. STEM CELL THERAPY 4 ME is based on the use of stromal vascular fraction (SVF), a group of cells that can be isolated from a patient's own fat tissue with a minimally invasive procedure called mini-liposuction, under local anesthesia. The SVF fraction is rich in mesenchymal stem cells, other regenerative cells and growth factors that are important for tissue regeneration.
The therapeutic procedure involves mild liposuction under local anesthesia to extract 150-200 ml of fat tissue from which stem cells are isolated. The concentration of mesenchymal stem cells in adipose tissue has been found to be approximately 1000x higher compared to their volume in bone marrow. The stem cells are subsequently administered intravenously. Depending on the individual case, procedures such as complex body detoxification; antioxidant therapy; electromagnetic therapy, etc. may also be recommended to enhance the effect.
The specialists of the clinic use patented technology in their practice to ensure high quality of the procedure. STEM CELL THERAPY 4 ME finds application in a number of diseases.
Neurological diseases
Stem cell therapy can be administered as part of treatment after stroke and other neurological injuries, in conjunction with specialized rehabilitation and physical therapy, depending on the individual patient and the recommendations of the medical team. In these patients, stem cells derived from their own adipose tissue have the ability to help control chronic inflammation and degenerative tissue changes, boost the immune system and have an antioxidant effect. The effects of cell therapy can be enhanced by the use of vitamins and other antioxidants, especially with intravenous infusion of high doses of vitamin C and glutathione.
In patients with cerebral palsy, which is characterized by impaired motor and sensory functions, recent studies have demonstrated the safety and clinical benefits of autologous stem cell administration. No serious side effects have been observed with the therapy.
Stem cell treatment can lead to significant improvements in children with autism, including: improved digestion and nutritional tolerance; improvements in behaviour at home and outdoors; improved verbal skills; improvements in attention, concentration, etc. Although the success rate of therapy varied from child to child, improvements were seen in all cases.
Cell therapy can also be applied to patients with multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, brain injuries.
Orthopaedics and Traumatology
Patients with osteoarthritis, which is an extremely painful and movement-limiting condition, can achieve marked improvement with the application of cellular therapy. This was shown in a large study involving Cellthera Clinic specialists, which included 1,114 patients with the disease aged 19-94 years. They were treated with a single dose of SVF cells isolated from their own adipose tissue and then monitored for a period of 12 to 54 months. No serious side effects were observed with the treatment, and most patients experienced gradual improvement within 3-12 months after the therapy was administered, as well as a reduction in pain medication intake.
Stem cell therapy may also be appropriate for patients with joint pain, sports injuries, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.
Chronic wounds
If you have chronic wounds that do not heal over time or the cosmetic result is not to your satisfaction, stem cell application can help. Hard-to-heal wounds are a common problem in people suffering from diabetes, atherosclerosis, ischemia or vascular insufficiency. The innovative therapy at the Cellthera Clinic uses the characteristics and capabilities of stem cells contained in the patient's own fat cells. They have the ability to reduce inflammation, help repair damaged tissues and stimulate the growth of new blood vessels to improve blood flow in affected areas. The result is a reduction in inflammation, an improvement in the aesthetic appearance of the wound, and in many cases with open wounds, complete closure.
Anti-aging and rejuvenation
We can't stop time, but with the help of modern methods and technologies we can bring back the youthful look of the skin, say the specialists from Cellthera Clinic. They use for this purpose fat cells enriched with their own stem cells, which can be applied as a natural filter in procedures for rejuvenation of the face (correction of wrinkles, eyelids, lips, circles under the eyes, smoothing of scars) and body (bust, arms, etc.). Unlike most methods of plastic and aesthetic medicine, in this case the result is visible, but natural and lasting, because the patient's own cells are used.
In addition to the cases listed, cell therapy can also be applied in:
- vascular problems;
- some eye diseases;
- lung diseases, including COPD;
- erectile dysfunction;
- urinary incontinence;
- diabetes and autoimmune diseases;
- Crohn's disease, etc.
The experts of "Medical Carragee" are available for detailed information and assistance for consultation in each specific case.
Vaccine against cancer
The vaccine is made individually for each patient and is prepared in a certified laboratory in Vilnius, Lithuania. Precursors of dendritic cells - a type of white blood cells called monocytes - are extracted from 300 ml of peripheral blood of a patient affected by cancer. Immediately after blood collection, the monocytes are cultured in sterile laboratory conditions to obtain dendritic cells. During this process, the dendritic cells receive specific information about the nature of so-called universal tumor antigens - molecules that are specific to tumor cells. After being injected subcutaneously, the dendritic cells migrate to the lymph nodes and there transmit the information about the specific tumor antigens to the lymphocytes. The lymphocytes then spread throughout the body and serve as sentinels to destroy the tumor cells using the information transmitted to them by the dendritic cells.
Once prepared in the laboratory, the vaccine can be stored at temperatures below -70°C for up to two years without losing its immunostimulating properties. No serious side effects have been observed after its administration, and the patient's quality of life may improve significantly.
Infusion therapy with vitamin C
The infusion of high doses of vitamin C is suitable as a supportive therapy in cancer because it contributes to the targeted destruction of cancer cells and helps against the formation of metastases. In addition to cancer, the therapy is also used to stimulate the immune system in a number of other cases, including patients with immune system diseases, frequent infections, to accelerate wound healing and in people who are active in sports.
