Neuroradiologist (Swiss Medical Association)
Dr. Hassan Yılmaz is a specialist in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology with the title FMH since 2000. He completed his medical education at the University of Lyon and obtained his medical degree in 1996. After passing the national trainee exam, he underwent training at hospitals in Lyon and Geneva.
In October 2000 he presented his doctoral thesis on "Endovascular treatment of ruptured cerebral aneurysms". He worked for two years as Head of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology in Prof. F. Turgeman's department at the Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Lyon. In parallel, he obtained a university diploma in neuroradiology from the University of Paris in 2001 and validated the first year of the DEA in biomedical engineering in Lyon in 2002.
He rejoined HUG on 1 November 2002 and worked as Head of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology under Prof. Dr. Rufenacht until 2007. During this period, he participated in research projects on stents and aneurysms (collaboration with EPFL, the Computer Science Unit of the Medical Faculty of Geneva, the European Aneurysm Project) and co-authored several articles in the field of neuroradiology. Dr. Hassan Yılmaz has been a guest speaker at ESHNR congresses (Budapest, 2006, Geneva, 2008) and taught at the Interventional Neuroradiology Workshop within the European Course in Neuroradiology (ECNR, Basel, 2006).
Since 2003 he has been a consultant physician at the neuroradiology department of the Cantonal Hospital Basel for neuroradiological endovascular treatment. Since 2008 he is also an associate doctor in the department of neuroradiology at HUG. From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Hassan Yılmaz worked at the Institute of Radiology of the "Clinique Générale-Beaulieu". He joined the Institute of Medical Imaging in 2010. His activity is mainly focused on diagnostic and interventional vascular and spinal neuroradiology.
