Prof. Dr. Selahatin Özmen
Prof. Dr. Selahatin Özmen is known among Bulgarian women for his precise work. He has many operated compatriots behind him. Due to his good work and the countless requests from our patients for consultations with him, our manager Zvezdelina Lutfi invited him to visit us. Who is Prof. Dr. Selahatin Özmen?
Born in 1971 in Kiziltepe, Prof. Dr. Selahatin Özmen graduated third in the Faculty of Medicine of Hacettepe University in 1995. In 2002 he completed his specialization at the Faculty of Medicine of Gazi University in the Department of Plastic Surgery.
Differences
Between 2002-2003, he received a TUBITAK grant from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, and worked at the Clinical Foundation in the Department of Plastic Surgery in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. There, he worked and developed his capacity in the field of advanced microsurgery, stem cells, face and limb transplantation, ischemia-reperfusion injury and on quantitative sensory neuronal study of diabetic patients.
Prof. Dr. Selahattin Özmen has received 6 international awards for studies in which he participated. He won the EURAPS Young Scientist Award and works at Sahlgrenska Akademin - Department of Plastic Surgery in Gothenburg, Sweden, in the field of maxillofacial surgery. In 2007 he won the first US PSEF award in the field of research. In the same year, Dr. Özmen received his ICW, Germany certification. Dr. Özmen holds another 8 international and 12 national awards.
Achievements
He has authored and co-authored more than 80 international papers and 84 international presentations. He participated in a total of 41 national papers and 220 national presentations. Author and co-author of 4 international book chapters and 2 national book chapters. He is editor of two translated books ("Mastering Rhinoplasty" and "Publishing and Presenting Clinical Research").
In March 2012, he led the team that performed Turkey's third face transplant (Turkey's first 3D and first face transplant from a woman) at Gazi University. He is also a member of the Combined Tissue Transplantation Council of the Ministry of Health. He received the rank of Assistant Professor in 2004, Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2013 at Gazi University.
Professor Dr. Özmen has been working since 2014 at VKV American Hospital & Medical School, Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey in the Department of Plastic Surgery as Professor of Plastic Surgery.
The main areas in which Prof. Dr. Selahatin Özmen works are:

- Reconstructive microsurgery (breast, hand, facial, post-burn reconstruction)
