Dr. Johannes Griessar is a specialist in rheumatology at the Wiener Privatklinik in Vienna. His main focus is on rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Assoc. Grissard is deputy head of the Karl Landsteiner Institute of Gastroenterology and Rheumatology. He is a member of the Austrian Society of Internal Medicine and the Austrian Society of Rheumatology.   • Prof. Dr. Johannes Griessar studied and graduated at the Medical University of Vienna from 1991 to 1998 and in his PhD thesis he investigated the role of CD54 in monocytes undergoing transendothelial migration;
  • He completed his specialization in internal medicine and rheumatology at the Department of Rheumatology of the Medical University of Vienna under Prof. Josef Smolen;
  • In 2009, he became an associate professor with his PhD qualification entitled "Endothelial progenitor cells in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus";
  • Dr. Johannes Griessar, PhD, has been awarded fellowships from the American Arthritis Association and the Austrian Science Fund, working at the University of California Stanford School of Medicine in the laboratory of prof. Cornelia Wyand from 2009 to 2011;
  • Since 2012, he has been running a private practice at Wiener Privatklinik;
  • In 2013, Dr. Grisar moved from the Medical University of Vienna to St. Vincent Hospital in Vienna, where he worked as a specialist and senior consultant in rheumatology for 4 years;
  • Since 2017, he has been working as the head of the outpatient department of Hera Sanatorium.
