Patients with rheumatological diseases will have the opportunity to consult for free in Sofia with a leading specialist from the high-tech hospital "Liv Hospital" in Turkey. Prof. Dr. Shenol Kobak will be a guest in Bulgaria on December 6 and 7, at the invitation of the Health Information Center "Medical Karaj".

Prof. Dr. Shenol Kobak is one of the leading physicians with the deficient specialty of rheumatology. His career path began in Bulgaria, where he graduated from the Medical University of Varna in 1996 to reach the high-tech Liv Hospital in our southern neighbour. Today, Prof. Dr. Kobak is one of the most sought-after physicians by patients with rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoidosis, lupus, Sjögren's syndrome, ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew's disease), systemic sclerosis, psoriatic arthritis, etc.

Rheumatological diseases affect people of all ages, including children. Pain is usually the first thing patients turn to a doctor for, points out Prof. Kobak. However, it is only the visible part of the iceberg, because over time rheumatological diseases also affect the internal organs of the body - the lungs, the heart, the kidneys, the nervous system. To prevent this, early diagnosis and proper treatment is necessary, the specialist notes.

How are rheumatological diseases recognized?

Prof. Shenol Kobak advises young people to pay attention to symptoms such as morning stiffness, low back and neck pain, which can be a sign of rheumatological disease.

In young and middle-aged women, there may be pain in the small joints, swelling and morning stiffness. Along with this, dry mouth and eyes, skin rashes, ulcers in the lips and genital areas, whitening of the fingers or toes, yellowing and bruising, hardness of the skin, hair loss, muscle aches and weakness, recurrent fever, attacks of abdominal or chest pain may be seen. To confirm or exclude the diagnosis, a visit to a rheumatologist is imperative.

Are rheumatological diseases treated?

By their nature, these are chronic diseases, with a different course and prognosis. Patient awareness, early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial for the course of the disease.

In the last 10 years, revolutionary results have been achieved in the treatment of rheumatological diseases, says Prof. Dr. Shenol Kobak. The goal now is not only to control the patient's pain, but also to control the disease itself.

Prof. Dr. Shenol Kobak is coming to Bulgaria as part of Medical Karadjie's initiative to provide Bulgarian patients with access to the latest advances in medicine by partnering with some of the best medical institutions and specialists from around the world in each medical field.

Those wishing to take advantage of the free consultations should make an appointment in advance at tel. 0895 770 869 or 0879 977 401, as well as to provide on the spot all the medical documents they have to date.
