A big thank you to our coordinator from ZIC "Medical Karadj" - Kamelia Minkova
I have been diagnosed with degenerative myopia in both eyes, open angle glaucoma and optic nerve atrophy since I was a child. The diopter of my glasses was 22.
My condition had deteriorated to the point of only seeing silhouettes, seeing light, which was interfering with my ability to work.
In Bulgaria, the doctors told me there was nothing they could do to improve my condition.
After an online consultation with Assoc. Hassan Arifoglu, he offered to do a thorough examination at the hospital. His suggestion after the examination was to perform phacoemulsification (cataract surgery), which would improve the clarity of my vision though the damaged nerve.
Soon after the examination I had the operation, and my diopter is now 0,5.
A big thank you to our coordinator Kamelia Minkova in dealing with degenerative myopia - always kind, helpful and empathetic! The conditions at Okan Hospital are excellent and the doctors and nurses are world class. Thank you to our interpreter at the hospital- Güleiha and to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Arifoglu for their professionalism! May they be alive and well and help more people!
