"Each patient has to be looked at individually and sometimes doctors even have to step into the role of psychologists to understand it. In cases where the person does not like himself as a whole, he is subject to psychiatric consultation. In other cases, we discuss what the options are for correcting the parts of the face and body that are bothering the patient. We must remember that individuality is the most important thing. There are cases where I refuse to brutally interfere with what nature has created. The new trend in aesthetic surgery, is a result that is as close to natural as possible. The level of aesthetic surgery is much improved. In reconstructive surgeries, we try to get aesthetically acceptable results and minimize scarring. At the level of trauma and burns, as well as facial reconstruction, we always try to preserve the function of the organ involved. Some of the most complex surgeries I have done have been on breast cancer patients where the entire tissue had to be removed. Sometimes they take between 5 and 8 hours, and the recovery period is long."
